Recording day was Blasphemy Day! We should all sign a petition to make it a statutory holiday. Next weekend is Thanksgiving in Canada, and it will be interesting to see if I really am a prophet and someone writes some op-ed piece pitying us atheists because – according to them – we have no one to thank. No one but our families, friends, co-workers and random people that do things that make everyone’s life better. Most of all, I’m thankful to this society that values freedom of speech. In this episode, Kris, Twylla and I blaspheme a bit and discuss what blasphemy day means to us. We then get to some Canadian politics. Bill 312 was voted down (http://news NULL.nationalpost NULL.com/2012/09/26/tory-backbenchers-abortion-motion-defeated-203-91-despite-support-from-several-high-profile-mps/) in the House of Commons late last week. The bill would have opened up a seemingly useless discussion on when human life begins. That is, useless unless one realizes that the goal is diametrically opposite to what the back bencher who tabled the legislation said wasn’t his goal. And there’s a new Mormon temple opening up in Calgary that is holding a public open house this month. Oh, yes. The convicted felon Slyvia Browne (http://en NULL.wikipedia NULL.org/wiki/Sylvia_Browne) will be in town (http://calgary NULL.cnty NULL.com/showroom/events/upcoming-events/) on the 6th. We plan to be there.
