Episode 154 – Livin’ On A Prayer – Dusti Hennenfent and Luke Fevin

Join us as Da Prez Kris, Feisty Twyla, Nate Phelps (who doesn’t yet have a moniker) and yours truly, the Supreme Irreverend Doctor Randy Tyson as we delve into a subject which surprises many to learn is unfortunately much too common in Alberta and Saskatchewan: prayer in public schools.

We have two guests with us for this episode. Dusti Hennenfent was born and raised in Moose Jaw and left home to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan. Following the successful completion of her degree she traveled, teaching English in South Korea, and probably the locals in Houston TX and in Washington state. She moved back to the Moose Jaw region and is married with two children of grade school age. This is her first foray into secular activism.

Also with us this evening is Luke Fevin. Luke is a social rights activist, specializing in secularism and education. He’s a regular contributor to television, radio and web media, and at conferences, which is how I met Luke. Luke is primarily concerned over the Separate Catholic school system, prayer in schools and public environments and the impact of religious privilege on LGBTQ community. In his spare time, Luke sits on the board of The Society of Edmonton Atheists, and is co-founder of the secular groups APUPIL (https://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/groups/APUPIL/) and The Society of Albertans United for Separation of State and Church.

Episode 153, Part 2 – Kudatah!

In this, the second part of the 153rd installment of this humble periodical Feisty Twyla, Da Prez Kris and yours truly, the Supreme Irreverend Doctor Randy Tyson take you on a sonic voyage. Our first stop is the land of assisted dying, where the Supreme Court of Canada has shown its diminishing patience over the Government of Canada’s lack of pace in creating guidelines for the procedure. From there we move on to the city of same-sex marriage inequality where the world body of the Anglican church has suspended the United States chapters and put the Canadian one’s on notice. Next we enter the land of confusion where an Anglican minister is fighting for her job after self-describing as an atheist and wonders what the fuss is all about. And from there we travel the highway of righteous indignation as a Moose Jaw Saskatchewan mother takes her children’s public school to the province’s human rights commission over school-led morning prayer. And our journey ends in statistical fashion with a new Angus Reid poll giving us insight into the views on morality of Canadians. But first…. FIRST! He’s BAAAAAaaaaaack! It’s been a long while, but the sudden cold chill down my spine can only mean the return of Bishop Fred Fucking Henry! The NDP government, only seven months old has drawn the ire of the good bishop with its new guidelines on the treatment of LGBT students that apply not only to the public, but also to the Catholic school system! Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

Episode 152 – Cristin Padgett, A Non-believer Dares to Run for Public Office

We have a special guest with us today who is doing something that I want to see more of in the future south of the 49th parallel, and that is running for office without hiding her nonbelief. Cristin Padgett (http://www NULL.padgett4texas NULL.com/) is running in District 33 for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives.
