Two ex-Muslims join us for this episode. Iranian-born Armin Navabi is the founder of the Atheist Republic (http://www NULL.atheistrepublic NULL.com/), and author of “Why There Is No God”. Yasmine Mohammed has penned her own memoirs titled “From Al Qaeda to Atheism”, and writes the blog “Confessions of an Ex-Muslim (http://www NULL.confessionsofanexmuslim NULL.com/)“. Both are voices behind the Secular Jihadists podcast, along with Ali Rizvi and Faisal Saeed Al Mutar. Hopefully we can cover a few topics, including radicalization (and I have a hypothesis on who is most vulnerable that I’d like to run by our guests), Linda Sarsour and CAIR, the fetishization of tools of oppression (the hijab in particular) and the popularizing of so-called “modesty fashion”.

We get together and talk about a bunch of stuff, including the fallout from CFI and its lack of support to the Calgary chapter; maybe talk about intersectional feminism and its postmodernist/Marxist roots…

Helen Beach, head of the local chapter of the Centre for Inquiry, and our gay correspondent Shane Plesiuk join us to discuss the recent regrettable decision by Calgary Pride to ban members of the Calgary Police Services to participate in uniform. Note: I reached out to Calgary Pride to include a representative of their organization and received no response by on-air time.

Join us as we bring you our take on a number of news stories we consider within our purview. In this edition for June 18, 2017 we find that over half of Canadians believe that religion is a force for harm and we wonder what the hell is wrong with the rest; a new creationist dinosaur museum opened this weekend in Innisfail, Alberta where no expense regarding historical accuracy was spared, including a laser tag facility themed with an ancient city being invaded by dinosaurs; in Ontario, a court rules that students no longer have to provide a reason for opting out of religion classes in Catholic schools; and in The Regressive Left Files… indigenous peoples of some 189 countries petition a United Nations committee to make cultural appropriation illegal. Lastly, we look at lawsuits from both pro and con sides of medical assistance in dying in Canada that can only be traced to crappy federal legislation. But first, welcome back Twyla!
